How to Create the Small Wins in Your Home

Living the minimalist lifestyle requires maintenance. Doing a little every day keeps the clutter at bay.

If you’re ready to say goodbye to the clutter, but don’t know where to start. Give this 2 minute post a read first.

A common mistake I see with clients is removing every item because they’re excited to start, but then quickly lose steam and end up with even more chaos and overwhelm.

Instead of attempting to tackle it all at once, start small. Make it your goal to create small wins.

Here’s how:

STEP 1

Decide which space or room in your home you will focus, and narrow it down even more. For example: The primary bedroom, (which part of the primary?) — the closet, (which category in my closet?) — socks and underwear. Identifying the category helps to create a small, doable task.

STEP 2

Set the timer for 20 minutes. If this task can’t be done in 20 minutes or less, it might be too much to declutter for a small win. The goal with small wins is 20 minute or less decluttering that provides the momentum to keep going. Put on a podcast, and commit your undivided attention to decluttering this one space for 20 minutes. I promise you’ll feel instantly better, and even keep going!

If you’ve tried and failed at decluttering and organizing your home, and are ready to fully embrace a lifestyle with l e s s — book a complimentary call with me. I’m here to help friend.
